- This particular copy was imported and sold by Koelling & Klappenbach, a Chicago bookstore opened by John Koelling in 1897. Koelling, the son of well known composer Carl Koelling, immigrated to Chicago from Germany in 1880. After working at several Chicago bookstores, he opened his own and sold German books, promoting his culture while feeding his bookish tendencies.
